Residential Thermal Imaging
Common sources of energy loss include settled insulation, non-insulated spaces such as knee-walls, or vaulted ceilings, and leaks from heating and air conditioning ducts among others.

Red Flags

Red flags or typical symptoms that suggest the existence of one or more these problems include:
  • Drafty Rooms
  • Uneven temperatures inside the home or building
  • Rooms that appear warmer or cooler than the rest of the home
  • HVAC systems that run longer hours without properly cooling or heating the home

D&W provides thermal imaging services to identify or diagnose previously undetected problems in the building envelope and/or for verification after certain types of repairs or improvements.

Thermal imaging is a non-invasive and inexpensive way to diagnose and identify these problems in areas where a visual inspection is limited or not possible.

Another benefit of using thermal infrared imaging to diagnose potential problems is that specific locations can be focused upon for more invasive repairs as necessary, which limits the size of the work and can significantly reduce the repair costs.

Scheduling
If you’re interested in having D&W perform a thermal imaging analysis on your home call 352-562-4510 to schedule an appointment. Inspections can take from 90 to 120 minutes and can only be performed when someone is home. Thermal imaging services can be performed in any season, although the outdoor and indoor temperature difference should be at least 18º. There is currently a one to two week lead time to schedule a thermal imaging analysis.

The Inspection
D&W Certified Energy Auditor will scan ceilings, kneewalls, exterior walls, windows, doors, and recessed lighting. The HVAC ductwork will be scanned from the inside the attic. Following the inspection, the D&W consultant will sit down with the client to review results.

The client will receive a comprehensive report within the next 48-72 hours.

Remember
    Thermal Imaging
  • Is not the first step to reduce your energy bill or conserve energy.
  • Is not an energy audit and will not replace an energy audit.
  • Is a diagnostic tool to locate problems in areas with red flags where the visual inspection is not possible.
  • Is a valuable tool for verifying that repairs or improvements were correctly made and are performing as expected.
