| Interview |
![]() | Every audit begins with an interview. A D&W Certified Energy Auditor will ask a series of questions regarding electric and water use in the business and review the utility bills.
| The Inspection |
![]() | As the auditor moves through the property, it’s recommended that someone with the business follow along. Not only does this ensure that only areas intended to be included in the audit are inspected and questions answered promptly, but D&W inspectors provide useful information and point out examples during audits. Every audit begins with the outside of the property and includes outside water fixtures along with any heating or cooling equipment. Inside, the auditor will look at windows, doors, appliances, insulation, and ducts as well as the equipment used for production purposes. In other words the service includes a detailed analysis of base-load, seasonal-load, and production-load which assure a full and integral approach. Following the inspection, the auditor will sit down with the business owner or representative to review the preliminary results. Items noted during the audit will be compared to the utility bills. The auditor will also point out other modifications that can be made to reduce water and electric usage and other cost saving reductions.
| Reporting |
![]() | Following the inspection the auditor will prepare a detailed report tailored to your specific property. The report will be sent via email unless a paper copy is requested. D&W reports include a description of priority target areas and conservation opportunities. Both areas present potential rebate information for suggested modifications. The report also includes projected savings calculated based on the recommended changes. This allows the client to see the payback period and continued savings for making these changes. A schedule of detailed costs used to calculate monthly savings is included and is presented with contractor and do-it-yourself prices.
